Abstract

1,100,180. Washing - machines. BLACKSTONE CORPORATION. 27 Sept., 1966 [23 Oct., 1965], No. 43186/66. Heading D1A. A washing machine with an oscillatable agitator has two separate dispensers for bleach and rinse agent mounted in the top of the agitator one of which dispenses during washing and the other during and after spin drying. During washing water flows through parts 17 in the agitator, through a lint filter 21 and out through hollow vanes 18. During this process water splashes through holes 29 in a container 27 and washes bleach out of the container into the wash tub through the hollow vanes 18. Rinse agent is contained in an annular container 30 and remains there during washing. During the spin drying process however the rinse agent is forced up the sloping side walls 31 and into an annular compartment 37 where it remains due to centrifugal force. When spin drying ceases it flows out of the annular compartment 37 via ports 38 and into the rinsing water.
