Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a minute and uniform phosphor material layer of pillar crystal without sacrifice of the radiant ray amount-light emission amount conversion efficiency, by depositing an alkali halide phosphor material layer on the face of a substrate where arched recesses are provided at the circumferential side through the etching. CONSTITUTION:The photo-etching is applied on one face of such as aluminum substrate, then many recesses 12 which are approximately rectangular against one face of the substrate 11 which having arched circumferential side 12a are arranged regularly where the substrate face 12b is coarse when compared with the convex section. The width (W) of each recess 12 is 10-100mum in average while the depth (d) is 10-100mum in average and the pitch (P) is 30-150mum. The alkali halide phosphor material such as CsT is vacuum deposited on the surface of such substrate to provide the phosphor material layer. Consequently sufficiently minute and uniform phosphor material layer of pillar crystal can be obtained.
