[Class 120 (ii)] Freely mounted needle rollers N rotatable by the sliver are arranged between the rollers I, III, and, as shown, between the rollers III, IV, and also, if desired, between the feed rollers of a spinning-machine as ordinarily employed particularly for cotton, whereby plucking of bunches of fibres is prevented and the drawing of long staple material such as wool and artificial silk may be effected. The needle rollers are preferably arranged above the level of the bottom rollers so as to deflect the sliver from the normal straight path.
