Abstract

474,612. Drawing fibres. PLATT BROS. & CO., Ltd., and HUGHES, J. May 2, 1936, No. 12477. [Class 120 (i)] Slivers or the like of fibrous material from cans into which they have been delivered from carding-engines or drawing-frames, or laps formed in sliver lap machines or combing machines, or cylindrical laps formed as hereinafter described are drawn in a machine constituted by sets of drawing rollers and complemental sets of calender or condensing rollers, and delivered in band form, the bands from the several heads being led along a table, belt, creeper or lattice in parallel paths at right angles to the direction of draft and wound sideby-side into a cylindrical lap, from which they may be similarly drawn and further drafted or be used as required. As shown, slivers a from cylindrical laps A are drawn by rollers 11, 12 and condensed to form a band by a trumpet 31 and rollers 17, 18, the bands from six heads being led around guides 32 and along a table 33 to calender rollers 35, 36 and lap-forming apparatus 38. The pressing-rollers of the drawing and condenser rollers are individual to the heads, the lower rollers being continuous. The separate heads and the table are provided with stop-motion devices.
