Abstract

1320584 Printing apparatus RICOH KK 25 Aug 1970 [15 Sept 1969] 40744/70 Heading B6C An offset litho machine comprises an etching solution application device having a roller 133, Fig. 19 partially immersed in an etching solution tank 123 and an application roller 141 for receiving solution from the immersing roller via an adjustable spring urged metering roller 145. Means are provided for coupling the rollers and a pair of supports carries the application roller 141 into and out of engagement with a printing cylinder 1, Fig. 1. A first member is coupled to a printing plate feed device 89 of the machine said member being operable to cause said supports to pivot so that the application roller is brought into engagement with the painting cylinder. An actuation member 4 is displaceable selectively into a plurality of positions for controlling the operation of the machine the member 4 being movable into a first position to initiate the feeding of a printing plate and thereby operate the first member, and into a second position to initiate removal of the printing plate from the cylinder, a drive mechanism for rotating said immersing roller, and means for actuating said mechanism when the actuation member 4 is displaced into the first or second positions and for de-actuating the mechanism when the actuation member is displaced into any other of the said plurality of positions.
