Abstract

1380137 Franking machines PITNEYBOWES Inc 14 March 1972 [18 March 1971] 11889/72 Heading B6D A franking machine for printing either on letters or tape t comprises a printing means 10 which when actuated causes a letter supported on a platen 30 to be impressed and then ejected by rollers 48, 50, 52 operable in response to pivoting of an interlock 36 acted upon by a pin 34 and an interposer 42 and a tape carrier 180 mounted slidably on a bar 182 between a retracted position and an operative position at which the carrier 180 is overlying the platen 30. When the carrier 180 moves to its operative positions it also enables a drive means which actuates a pawl-and-ratchet tape feed mechanism and disables the letter eject mechanism by removing the interposer 42 from its disposition between the interlock 36 and the pin 34.
