- the underbody of a motor vehicle is the lower bearing part of the vehicle body, on which the floor rests.
- the underbody of a motor vehicle comprises, in a conventional manner, a floor fixed on two longitudinal longitudinal members, which extend substantially in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and which are spaced apart from each other. These spars are attached to a central cross member extending transversely to the vehicle. Lateral reinforcement elements, or flange reinforcements, are attached to the ends of the central cross member on each side of the vehicle. These lateral reinforcing elements extend longitudinally on the vehicle and in planes perpendicular to the floor.

- the base comprises, in addition, a second floor element, which is fixed on said upper face of said central crossbar, said first end of each of said longitudinal members is extended by a sub-cross section, which is fixed to said lower face of said central crossbar, said under-cross section is integral with a fixing portion which has a front portion which is welded to the lateral face of said central crossbar which is oriented towards the side of said second floor element, an upper portion which is fixed under said second floor member, said attachment portion gradually extends to said respective lateral reinforcing member and said fixing portion is fixed to a longitudinal portion of said respective lateral reinforcing member, whereby the forces exerted on each of said beams are transmitted to said lateral reinforcing elements.
- the attachment portion comprises a wing which extends substantially in a plane perpendicular to said second floor element and which gradually extends towards said respective lateral reinforcing element.
- the underbody of the invention may also comprise upper reinforcement elements of said longitudinal members which are welded to the upper face of said first floor element, so as to sandwich said first floor element between said longitudinal members and said upper reinforcing elements.
- the portion under the cross member and the fastening portion may be one and the same part with the spar 3.
- said portion under the crosspiece and said attachment portion form a separate part of said spar which is welded to the first end of said spar, which simplifies the manufacture of the spar and the mounting of the base of the invention.

- the end of the aforementioned wing 13 is fixed on the lateral reinforcing element 7, at a surface that extends over part of the height of the reinforcing element 7 and on a longitudinal portion of the latter, so as to ensure good attachment and good transmission of the forces exerted on the spar to the lateral reinforcing element 7.
- the wing 13 comprises a front portion 15 which is welded on the side face of the central beam 2 which is oriented towards the second floor element 6. This front portion 15 is embedded between the upper and lower horizontal edges which equip the longitudinal edges of the central cross member 2 (the latter has, in cross section, a shape of I).
- the wing 13 is extended by a secondary fixing portion 17, substantially triangular and disposed in the same plane as the wing 13, towards the underside of the vehicle. This secondary fastening portion 17 extends over the entire length of said wing 13 and is welded to a portion of the lateral reinforcing element 7.
- an under-rail portion 18 is disposed substantially at the front face 15 of the wing 13.
- This under-rail portion 18 is substantially flat and is welded to the lower face 22 of the central cross-member 2.
