Abstract

PURPOSE:To select a damper force responsively according to a road surface condition by detecting a fluctuation of a road surface according to a change rate of the damper force and selecting a set value for determining a magnitude of the change rate according to an operating condition of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:Damper force detecting means 1 is constituted of plural piezoelectric type load sensors 1a-1d. Operating condition detecting means 2 is constituted of a brake switch 21, vehicle speed sensor 22, steering sensor 23, acceleration sensor 24 and manual setting switch 3. Detection signals from these detecting means 1 and 2 are input into a microcomputer 4. The microcomputer 4 generates a predetermined control signal to a driving circuit 5 to control a shock absorber 6. The microcomputer 4 computes a change rate of a damper force and a set value of the change rate of the damper force. When the change rate of the damper force exceeds the set value of the change rate of the damper force, the driving circuit 5 is so controller as to reduce the damper force.
