Abstract

1319880 Inking and damping apparatus; cleaning cylinders in situ CHAMBON Ltd 9 Aug 1971 [17 Aug 1970] 37243/71 Heading B6C In a rotary offset printing machine the inking and damping apparatus is mounted on a vertically movable frame 4 whereby the inking rollers 6 and the damping forme roller 15 may be removed from the plate cylinder 1. The roller 15 is mounted on a pair of levers 18 pivotable about the axis 13 of ductor roller 12 whereby following the aforesaid removal the roller 15 may be moved back into contact with the plate cylinder to permit washing of the same. The levers 18 are moved by cams 23 operated by a piston 28 and a rack 26 which engages a pinion 25 on the camshaft. The roller 15 normally receives ink from the inking drum 5 as well, as water from the ductor roller 12. A slowly rotating metering roller 14 is provided in the trough 9.
