l IMPROVEMENT IN OVERALLS.

Specifica-tion forming part of Letters Patent No. 143,947, dated October 21, 1873; application filed August 4, 1873.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EMIL WEIL, ofthe city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Overalls, of which the following is a specification:

The accompanying drawing represents my improved overalls.

The object of my invention is to furnish for workmen or others who wear overalls, for the protection of their clothes, an improved kind, which are more easily and quickly slipped over the pants and readily applied without the use of buttons, Suspenders, &c., iitting the body of the person, and adjusting itself to the position of the same. My invention consists of short elastic bands inserted and appliedf into the band-piece of the overalls, and closed by a common belt-buckle, which is drawn through a slit of a flap attached tothe lower front edge of the overalls, and covered by the same.

In the drawing, A represents the overalls, of suitable material used for that purpose. B is the band-piece, into which are inserted and applied, at both front ends of the same, the short elastic bands C, which are provided at their ends with the clasps of a common beltbuckle, D. Along the lower vertical front edge of the overalls A is firmly attached the inwardly-extending flap E, of narrow triangular or similarshape, the upper part of which forms a projecting piece of the height and width of band-piece B. A slit, a, of the upper part of flap E, serves for drawing through one of the clasps, so that on locking them the buckle D slips under the flap and is covered by it.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The overalls A, having band-piece B and flap E a, combined with end-buckled elastic bands C, as described, whereby buttons are rendered entirely unnecessary.
