Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the yield and quality and save the energy, by controlling the supply energy quantity according to the number of air bubbles contained in a sampled melt glass and a change in temperature of molten glass in a furnace. CONSTITUTION:A molten glass flowing from a sampling orifice 8 is molded by a rolling apparatus 9 into a ribbonlike plate glass 10 and passed through a zone where a photoelectric switch 20 is provided. Projected light is reflected by air bubbles in the plate glass 10. The photoelectric switch 20 senses the reflected light and sends pulse signals thereof to a data processing apparatus 22. The data processing apparatus 22 counts the pulse signals per unit time. On the other hand, the temperature of the molten glass 6 in a furnace 1 is sensd by a thermocouple 21 and sent to the data processing apparatus 22. The sensed number of air bubbles and the temperature of the molten glass 6 are compared with the standard values, and control signals are produced in a supply electric controlling apparatus 23 for increasing or decreasing the electric power based on the comparing signals. An electric power supply apparatus 24 increases, decreases and controls the supply electric power by the signals.
