Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of the incident edge of a bundle of optical fibers due to burning by attaching a member for preventing the generation of heat made of heat resistant transparent body to the edge where irradiated light enters the bundle. CONSTITUTION:A member 2 for preventing the generation of heat made of short- cylindrical and heat-resistant transparent body such as transparent silica glass and having outside diameter almost equal to that of a bundle 1 of optical fibers is joined to the incident edge 1a of the bundle 1 where irradiated light from a light source device enters the bundle 1 in the vicinity of a focus on which the incident light converges by means of a heat resistant transparent adhesive or the like, and the incident face 2a of the member 2 is coated with a reflection preventing film 3. Thus, even if a large quantity of illumination light from a lamp as a light source is transmitted through a bundle of optical fibers reduced in diameter, the generation of heat at the edge of the bundle and the damage due to burning are prevented.
