Abstract
PURPOSE:To supress the residual stresses in web or relieve the generated residual stresses by disposing transverse flux heating type inductors in proximity to both surfaces of the web of an H-beam in the traveling passages of the H-beam. CONSTITUTION:During cooling after the end of rolling of an H-beam or after the end of the cooling, inductors 3, 3' are disposed on the top and under surfaces of the web 1 of the H-beam in proximity, in such a manner that the direction where the number of inductor poles increases and the web width direction intersect approcimately orthogonally. The construction of these inductors 3, 3' is made into, for example, a 3-pole 1-winding system. During the movement of the web 1, electric current is flowed to inductor coils 6, 6' to generate a magnetic flux 7, by which induction current 8 is generated in the web 1. The web 1 is heated by the transverse flux heating during the movement of the web 1, whereby the generation of the residual stresses is suppressed or the residual stresses are relieved.
