Thermoplastic material is injected into a mould 1 to give a blank 8, which is then, while still hot and pliable, engaged in a second mould formed from at least two elements 10, 11 which are movable with respect to one another, and pressed to the shape of the required article 12. A metal or plastic disc 14 may be contained in a cavity in the second mould 9 to be connected to the finished article, e.g. a tube cap 12.
