Abstract

743,633. Gas burners. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Dec. 11, 1953 [Dec. 31, 1952], No. 34510/53. Classes 75(1) and 75(3). [Also in Groups XII and XXVI] A gas turbine is supplied with working fluid by a number of combustion chambers 60 enclosed in an air casing 32. Two of the combustion chambers are ignited by igniters 118 bolted to the air casing 32. The remaining chambers are ignited through crossover tubes. Each igniter 118 comprises a gas supply conduit 126 which delivers gas through an adjustable nozzle 128 to a mixing venturi where it is mixed with air from the air casing supplied through the passage 136. The mixture is ignited in the chamber 132 by a spark plug 134 and passes to the flame tube and burner 114 through a conduit 122. Axial adjustment of the nozzle 128 varies the air to fuel ratio.
