Abstract

611,053. Knitting. INTERLOCK PATENTS, Ltd., and BONSER, F. Aug. 29,1945, No. 22190. [Class 74(ii)] A rib fabric having certain or all of the wales of one kind composed of a greater number of loops than the wales of the other kind, which incorporate elongated loops, is characterized in that the elongated loops are locked or tied by passing a thread loop through and around them. The held loops 11 in alternate wales are locked by a yarn which is passed through and around them at 12, as in Specifications 329,098, [Class 74(ii)], and 422,779 and is either tucked as at 13, or knitted normally or floated in the intervening wales. In those courses of one cycle which succeed the course in which the loops 11 are drawn, the yarn in the wales containing the loops 11 may be tucked, as at 14, or floated as at 28. Areas of such fabric may alternate with coursewise extending bands of unpatterned rib fabric. In making the fabric on a multifeed, cylinder and dial machine, all the dial needles may be caused to knit at every feed, and the cylinder needles to knit at one feed and knit, miss or tuck at the next three feeds as determined by pattern mechanism. The fabric may be patterned by needle control and by yarn control (e.g. by using contrasting yarns).
