Abstract

1491154 Pipe joints BRITISH GAS CORP 23 July 1976 [25 April 1975] 17261/75 Heading F2G A coupling for the end of a plastics pipe 11 situated within a steel sleeve pipe 17 comprises a hollow inner plastics body 1 having a serrated metal liner 4 disposed therein so as to form between it and the body 1 an annular gap to receive the pipe 11 wherein it is held by a tubular clamping member 6 which is forced over the plastics body 1, and an outer steel shroud member 7 surrounding the body 1, the shroud member having interior grooves at the end remote from the pipe 11 into which the body 1 is pressed by means of a tubular clamping member 5 forced into the bore 14 of the body 1, the member 7 being provided with tapered or parallel screw threads at 9 for connection to the sleeve pipe 17. A circumferential lip 12 on the body 1 abuts the end 13 of the member 7 and a tapered screw thread at 8 connects to a steel body 18 for connection to other metal pipe fittings.
