Abstract
1435690 Screw conveyers HOWARD HARVESTORE Ltd 11 June 1973 [16 March 1972] 12213/72 Heading B8A [Also in Division B1] Slurry may be aerated by operating a screw conveyer in a tubular easing so that its inlet is accessible to air which is discharged through the outlet and into the slurry. Such a conveyer may have a deflector plate (20, Fig. 1, not shown) mounted above it so that when operated in the opposite sense slurry is drawn up and discharged over the surface. Alternatively the edges of the deflector plate may be below surface level when a Venturi effect at the edges causes air to be drawn down with the slurry. A modified conveyer, Fig. 2, has portions 22, 23 of opposite hand separated by a baffle disc 32, and an outlet 30 in the casing through which an air/slurry mixture is discharged. The conveyer may be mounted on a pivoted or travelling boom (36) optimally by means of a carriage (39), see Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown); if the conveyer axis be inclined and its motor periodically reversed, reaction will cause it to move back and forth across the container.
