Abstract
393,280. Feeding-devices for granular &c. materials. GILL, H. A., 51, Chancery Lane, London.-(Smidth & Co. Aktieselskab, F. L. ; 33, Vestergade, Copenhagen.) Nov. 30, 1931, No. 33125. [Class 59.] In a system for conveying pulverulent material by compressed air, the material is compressed by centrifugal force at the inlet to prevent the escape of the air. The material is fed into the conveyer pipe 1 through a hollow rotating body 5 which is provided with an annular slot 8 near its periphery. A scraper 9, or a jet of compressed air, loosens the material and directs it into the pipe. The body 5 is mounted on an extension of a worm conveyer 3 which feeds the material from a hopper 4 into the body 5. The conveyer 3 and body 5 may be driven by the same device 10, or at different speeds by different devices. The material may be fed to the body 5 by suction.
