Abstract
1341239 Pouring nozzles DIDIER-WERKE AG 23 April 1971 [23 April l970 11149/71 Heading F4B A pouring nozzle for a tundish comprises a refractory body, e.g. a quartz with about 14% chromic oxide, with an annular insert disc 2 of a material with a higher heat conductivity, e.g. a cermet based on 3 parts of molybdenum and I part of zirconia. The insert is held in placed by a known retaining ring 3 and may have a thickness of between 5-20% of the central orifice diameter. It may also be formed with a number of additional holes (6, Fig. 5) to modify the conductivity effect. In a modification (Fig. 3) the insert is cemented into the nozzle outlet, whilst further modification (Figs. 4 and 6) show two spaced inserts used in an ordinary nozzle and an immersion nozzle respectively. The inserts may also be made of corundum, zircon or zirconia.
