Abstract

1,223,699. Revolving doors. BRITISH EUROPEAN AIRWAYS CORP. 8 July, 1969 [29 April, 1968], No. 20254/68. Heading E1J. A revolving door comprises an inner shell 3 divided by a partition 5 into compartments 6, 7 each having an opening 19, 20 in the wall of the shell, and an outer coaxial shell 1 having an opening, the shells being rotatable about the same axis. In Fig. 4a the shells each have two diametrically opposite openings. The outer shell 1 rotates at half the speed and in the opposite direction to the inner shell 3. Thus manual rotation of shell 3 clockwise allows successive communication of compartment 6 with channel 24 and gate 25, and successive communication of compartment 7 with the two portions of channel 23 on opposite sides of gate 25. In Figs. 5a-5d (not shown) the shells rotate at the same speed in opposite directions. The shells may also rotate at different speeds in the same direction.
