Abstract
1,053,819. Washing machines. GEBR. POENSGEN G.m.b.H. Dec. 11, 1964 [Dec. 14, 1963], No. 50661/64. Heading D1A. A washing machine having coaxial inner and outer relatively rotatable drums 11, 10 each having a sliding door with coupling means for so coupling it to the other drum that the door is opened by the relative rotation of the drums. As shown, inner drum 11 is driven by a motor 12, Fig. 1 (not shown) and has two sliding doors 23, 25 one in each of the halves separated by partition 24, Fig. 1 (not shown). Outer drum 10 has one door 22 carrying pneumatically controlled forks 27 which engage pins 28 on the flanges 29 of the end walls 30, 31 of drum 11. Similar forks 37 mounted on couplings outside walls 20, 21 of drum 10 pass through walls 20, 21 and engage pins 40 mounted on doors 23, 25. Operation of the doors is controlled by the automatic programme control and rotation in opposite directions of drum 11 opens door 22 first and then door 23.
