Abstract

1,158,614. Stainless steel. LANGLEY ALLOYS Ltd. March 14, 1968 [March 16, 1967; March 17, 1967], Nos. 12429/67 and 12708/67. Heading C7A. A corrosion and wear resistant high strength stainless steel comprises:- Cr 23-30% Ni 4-7% Mo 1-5% Cu 1-4% Si 0À2 - 2% Mn 0À2 - 4% C 0À01-0À1% N 0À06-0À4% the balance, apart from incidental impurities, being iron and has ratios Cr/Ni of 3À8-6À25 and (Ni + 200 x N)/Cr of 0À74-3À72 which when plotted on Figs. 1 or 2 of the drawings fall within the area ABCDA of the graphs. The steels may be solution treated at 1050-1200‹ C., quenched in oil or water and aged at 480-560‹ C. or may be hot rolled at 900-1200‹ C. followed by a single stage treatment at 475-525‹ C.
