Abstract

1,214,293. Steel alloys. HADFIELDS Ltd. Oct.27, 1967 [Nov.14, 1966], No.51019/66. Heading C7A Martensitic steel alloys, having good impact strength, corrosion resistance and weldability, have compositions within the following range:- C less than 0À10% Si 0À3 - 0À7% Mn 0À3 - 0À7% Cr 9À0 - 17À5% Ni 3À5 - 4À75% Mo 0À45 - 0À55% Cu 0À8 - 1À2% Fe and unavoidable impurities the remainder. The steel may contain N 0À03 -0À08% and up to 0À02% of S and/or P. The steel is heat treated by air cooling from 1000‹ C. and precipitation treated in the range 500-600‹ C.
