Abstract

A low-alloy steel has the following percentage composition C 0.04-0.25 Ni 4.5-10 Al 0.6-12 Mo and/or W 0.5-2 Mn up to 0.5 Co 0-5 Cr 0-1.5 Cu 0-2 Fe the remainder, the ratio of Ni to Al being at least 5 to 1. The steel may be heated to 845-925 DEG C., quenched, and precipitation hardened/tempered at 510-607 DEG C.
