Hi HN,

A couple months ago, a friend mentioned that there are too many great podcasts to keep up with. We searched for a solution but didn't find one and realized that many other listeners likely face the same problem.

So, I built PodSnap.AI, a service that keeps track of new podcast episodes and automatically sends AI-generated text and audio summaries to your inbox as soon as they are published.

This way, users can quickly get the key insights and decide whether to watch the full episode.

The service supports podcasts on Apple, Spotify, and YouTube.

It's still beta, so I'd highly appreciate any feedback or suggestions for improvement.

Thank you!

This is actually a really interesting concept, tried it out. Worked well.

I can see it being useful for business podcasts, like key points people are making etc as you are summarising.

One feature you could look at implementing is allowing users to trigger the summary once its listened to (you would have to somehow link into their spotify or apple music or whatever account etc) but people do often with business and other learning podcasts love to have key take aways etc and take their own notes.

Productising that (as you have done so to an extent here) would be pretty interesting. So also serving people that want to actually listen to the cast as well.

Cool idea! As a podcast summary skeptic I have 2 questions

How are summaries different than the summary that is in the notes of a podcast episode on Apple Podcasts? If I want to read I can just read the notes

Aren’t there copyright infringement implications of basically republishing other peoples work without their permission? Genuinely curious about that.

Regarding notes on Apple Podcasts, I guess you're referring to an introduction teaser for each episode? The major benefit of of PodSnap.AI summary is that it contains the key insights within the episode, as well as an overall summary.

Regarding copyright infringement, the service is not republishing other people's work as its own. This is equivalent of someone writing a blog that contains podcast summaries, except that the work is done by AI. Also, the website only uses publicly available information and links to the originals where appropriate.

I already read a few summarised podcasts and I love it! It's super useful if you don't want listen to the full thing, but you still want to know the main points.

Hey, nice stuff. It might be that I'm just missing the point or it's my personal preference, but the podcasts for me are made to be listened by me, that's the way I enjoy it. Now there might be other use cases where people need to take key points from podcast (not sure).

Thanks! I completely agree that listening/watching a podcast episode is best. However, with so many great podcasts, it's hard to prioritize. PodSnap.AI gets you quick summaries for all of your favorite podcasts, so you can easily decide which episodes you'd like to listen to.
