The 112th United States Congress was a meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, composed of the Senate and the House of Representatives. The 112th Congress first convened in Washington, D.C. on January 3, 2011, and concluded on January 3, 2013.

Following the 2010 congressional elections, Democrats controlled the Senate with 51 seats to Republicans' 47; in addition, two independent senators caucused with the Democrats.[1] Republicans held a majority in the House with 242 seats to Democrats' 193.[2]
