Koltin
Koltin is a character in Tears of the Kingdom.[2]
Biography
Koltin is the brother of Kilton. He trades various Armor and Monster Parts to Link in exchange for Bubbul Gems, believing that consuming them will allow him to become "a Satori".[3]
Koltin can initially be found at Pico Pond Cave with Kilton, looking for a Bubbulfrog to obtain a Bubbul Gem from. When Link first speaks with Kilton, Koltin will emerge from the Cave entrance, telling his brother that while he has found a Bubbulfrog, he is unable to catch it.[4] The two of them ask Link for his assistance, and Koltin promises to give him a "treasure" in exchange for a Bubbul Gem.[5] This begins the Side Adventure "The Hunt for Bubbul Gems!".
After Link obtains a Bubbul Gem and gives it to Koltin, he will give Link the Bokoblin Mask, completing the Side Adventure.[6][7] Koltin will then eat the Bubbul Gem, but he finds that doing so does not transform him into "a Satori".[8] He instead feels a strange sensation, indicating that he is on his way to becoming "a Satori", but he will need to consume a large quantity of Bubbul Gems at once to accomplish it.[9][10] Speaking to Kilton, he then says that he has decided to travel across Hyrule to acquire more Bubbul Gems. Kilton, seeing that Koltin has made up his mind, tells him that he will give Koltin his full support.[11] Koltin then tells Link that he is about to set out on his journey, and asks Link if he will give him any other Bubbul Gems he finds.[12] Koltin then leaves, and Kilton tells Link that he will be in Tarrey Town, but he will listen for any news of his brother if Link needs help finding him.[13] This begins the Side Adventure "The Search for Koltin".
In order to complete this Side Adventure, Link must find and speak to Koltin in his Stall at any of its seven locations across Hyrule.[14][15] As part of the Additional Adventure "Bubbul Gems", Link can continue to bring Koltin Bubbul Gems in exchange for rewards.[16] Koltin will also be to sense the locations of nearby Bubbulfrogs for Link,[17] but this is limited to five preset Caves per Stall location.
Once Link has given Koltin all 147 Bubbul Gems, he will give Link Koltin's Fabric and ask him to show it to Kilton.[18] Then he will fully transform into "a Satori",[19] taking on the appearance of a Blupee before running away and vanishing. Link can then visit Kilton in Tarrey Town and tell him what happened to Koltin. Kilton will give Link his thanks and say that he will move Koltin's Stall to his brother's "favorite place".[20] He will also tell Link to keep Koltin's Fabric, saying that it is what Koltin would have wanted.[20]
