Tim Schafer wins the BAFTA Games Fellowship Award 2018

Tim Schafer, founder of Double Fine Productions, wins the BAFTA Games Fellowship Award at the BAFTA Games Awards 2018. Ex-Lucasarts genius, Tim Schafer  accepted the BAFTA Games Fellowship Award on Thursday in London.  Tim brought us classics such as Full Throttle, Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle to name a few.  Schafer said: “It’s kind of bewildering,” he says modestly, “because there’s nothing quite like this in America. It’s not like just being awarded with something, more like being welcomed into something. I enjoy that feeling.” Tim Schafer founded Double Find Productions which has brought us fine games such as The Cave and Broken Age. 'From Bedrooms to Billions: The Amiga Years!' is a feature film documentary that takes you on a detailed, and I mean detailed journey through the development, and life of the Commodore Amiga. If you grew up in the 80's and 90's then you will know how cool the Amiga was.  I remember the first time I powered up my Commodore Amiga 500 and dropped 'Shadow of the Beast' into the disk drive.  I was blown away by the graphics, sound and music.  Especially as my previous computer was a trusty ZX Spectrum and that's how it was for millions of computer users in the late 80's.  Going from a Speccy or C64 to this leviathan, this monster of a machine was mind blowing. The Amiga introduced me, for the first time to classic games such as the mighty absorbing Lucasarts titles.  The Secret of Monkey Island and Indiana Jones were just a few games that were new to me and it was the Amiga that allowed me to experience the talents of Ron Gilbert and Tim Schafer for...

Lucasarts Adventure Game Designer Genius, Tim Schafer To Receive BAFTA Fellowship

BAFTA are to acknowledge the talented Tim Schafer and his services to video games by awarding him the highest accolade at BAFTA.  Schafer will receive the BAFTA Fellowship in April.  The award recognises "an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film, games or television" and if anyone deserves the award it's Tim. Schafer tells us: “I am surprised, humbled, and honored to be receiving the BAFTA Fellowship this year...BAFTA's long-standing support of video games and championing of creativity and strong storytelling in that medium, have had an extremely positive impact and I'm very grateful to be recognized by them with this Fellowship.” Amanda Berry OBE chief executive of BAFTA said this about the game designer, "Tim Schafer is a true pioneer of game design, who has pushed the boundaries of the medium through his extraordinary talents." Grim Fandango Being Remastered And Heading To PS4. Thank You Tim Schafer @TimOfLegend

Forget any other news from E3.  THIS is the best and biggest news.  No other is necessary.  GRIM FANDANGO IS COMING TO PS4.  Yes, that's right and  it's being remastered.   Double Fine studios along with third party collaborations will be bringing the Tim Schafer Lucasarts classic to the PS4. Not Jonathan Frakes Tim Schafer recalls Spielberg asking him for tips on the classic Lucasarts title, Day of the Tentacle. Tim sits down for the first time in 10 years to play "Day of the Tentacle"!
