"America Likes to Watch"

Two Czech mobsters commit some gruesome murders in New York, which they record with a video camera. Because they set fire to their first victims, the crimes are investigated by respected fire inspector Jordy Warsaw. When it turns out that the fire victims were murdered, media-hungry detective Eddie Flemming also jumps on the bandwagon. Flemming and Warsaw go after the psychopaths. The two Czechs have meanwhile understood that they will become famous if they deliver their murder videos to the press.

An unconvincing film, which is otherwise nice to look at.

The story is quite unbelievable on paper, but on the screen it is actually quite believable. The action scenes in the film are not bad and partly because of that it looks quite nice. In terms of acting, the film is below par. De Niro is just enough, but what Burns shows here is just laughably bad.

The musical score isn't great either. Fortunately, the pace is high and the film, despite the sometimes somewhat unbelievable moments, is quite entertaining. Yet the film offers just too little as a whole to be able to hand out a sufficient amount.

2.5*

Set this up once and it wasn't bad, but not a masterpiece either. He does look away quickly and halfway through he has an unexpected turn, but it's not quite there.

Again a lot of famous people: in addition to Robert de Niro and Edward Burns, there was also a small role for Kim Cattrall and Charlize Theron. Not exactly grand cru for Robert de Niro, but not his worst role either.

Other than that, the story was interesting enough. Nice to have seen, but it won't really be a film that will stay with me.

The story in this film is about 2 criminals who record their murders with a video camera.

The Russian criminal would like to break through as a director with this.

This idea in itself is too insane for words.

It's up to Detective Eddie Flemming and Fire Inspector Jordy Warsaw to stop these sick ghosts.

However, they will soon find out that this is not so simple.

15 Minutes was generally not badly received.

The acting is good, and John Herzfeld's screenplay isn't bad either.

The man was also responsible for the story and direction of 2 Days In The Valley.

However, not everything has been worked out neatly, and some stitches are dropped.

Karel Roden is strong in his role as the crazy Emil Slovak.

All together we come to 3.0 *
