In a tragic incident on Saturday, four people, including three policemen, were killed in a fatal auto accident in Ore, a commercial town in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State. The victims were part of a police team from the state headquarters in Akure, dispatched to arrest a female suspect when the deadly crash occurred.

According to local sources, the accident happened when a truck, coming from the Ijebu-Ode axis, lost control while descending the Ore bridge. The vehicle veered across the median, crashing into the police vehicle transporting the officers and their suspect.

Eyewitnesses reported that the three police detectives and the female suspect died instantly at the scene, while another officer sustained severe injuries. The injured detective was rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment.

The police spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the accident, describing it as "unfortunate." The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) State Sector Commander, Samuel Ibitoye, attributed the cause of the accident to excessive speeding by the trailer driver.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the state hospital morgue in Ore, and investigations into the incident are ongoing. The police are also working to determine further details regarding the condition of the injured officer.
