A 40-year-old Nigerian woman, Roselime Oluchi Ikeoha, was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru, India, for her involvement in a major drug trafficking operation.
Authorities seized 12 kilograms of MDMA, a potent narcotic, from Ikeoha’s possession, marking one of the largest drug busts in the city’s history. The MDMA, which was found to be of high purity, is valued at approximately ₹24 crore.
Ikeoha, who had been operating a grocery store in TC Palya for five years, reportedly used the business as a cover for her illegal drug sales. Acting on credible intelligence, CCB officials raided the store, leading to her detention.
City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda described the seizure as a significant breakthrough in the fight against international drug trafficking. "This is among the biggest drug seizures in Bengaluru and Karnataka," he stated, noting that the narcotics were part of a larger network dealing in MDMA crystals.
Investigations revealed that Ikeoha, who entered India on a business visa five years ago, had overstayed her visa. During questioning, Ikeoha admitted to trafficking drugs and selling them at inflated prices.
The police are now investigating her suppliers, particularly a woman believed to be based in Mumbai, and examining the role of 70 SIM cards found in Ikeoha’s possession.
The case has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Foreigners Act, with further inquiries underway to dismantle the entire trafficking network.
