Partners for Fish and Wildlife (PFW) Habitat Restoration

COURSE SESSION

Target Audience:

Fish and Wildlife Service employees who are new to the PFW program and others interested in learning the fundamentals of the PFW program or who are interested in learning more about restoration/mitigation projects.

Summary and Objectives:

This course will help you improve skills for effective implementation of activities under the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program (PFW). The major topics of the course include: setting priorities, identifying partners, identifying and selecting projects, project design, construction and implementation, funding, compliance with other Federal mandates, monitoring, and a review of the USDA's Farm Bill program. You will gain practical knowledge of the PFW program during a field exercise by working in groups to design your own project. 

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Share with others the breadth and scope of the Service’s Partners for Fish and Wildlife program; 
  • Describe methods of program implementation and approaches to working with private landowners on habitat restoration; 
  • Explore techniques for developing successful partnerships for habitat restoration;
  • Apply PFW guidance and policies to their work of implementing on-the-ground projects; and
  • Identify emerging opportunities and ways to incorporate them into the PFW program.
