Unused Stage Intro THPs

In the game's /movie/ folder there are THP video files with the suffix '_c' for Smash Skate. They contain preview camera videos (when selecting a stage) for old versions of the stages and are unused in the final game.

Unused Bosses

In the stages files, the final boss level with Behemoth is internally stored as s20VO.bin (VO meaning Volleyball, even thought the final boss uses a mix of all sports). However in the files there are also unused versions of Stage 20 for Basketball, Dodgeball and Hockey with completely different bosses, which suggests that at first each sport had its own boss. In the models files, there is an unused Bahamut model with few animations, along with the Behemoth model.


Bahamut

Stored in /chr/n08C00.mdl and n08XX.mot are Bahamut models. The only existing animations he has are n08_DUMMY and n08_IDLE.


Basketball

A small rocky stadium with a copy of the Bahamut model. Given the position he is in, he may have acted as some sort of goal.

Dodgeball

A volcano stadium which seems to feature Ifrit as its boss.

Hockey

This one doesn't have any remnant of the boss. It is an icy stage with a rock surface and a hole in the middle, where presumably the boss would have been. Given that the stage is ice themed and the other unused bosses, this boss would have been Shiva from the Final Fantasy series.

Unused Stages

Inside the game's /menu/bin/ folder there is an UnLock.bin file containing a XML with the rules for unlocking the many characters in this game. It make reference to stages 18 and 19, that are not present in the game:

18L"クリスタルグランデ"

Crystal Grande. Likely some stage based on the "Great Crystal" from Final Fantasy XII.

19L"スーパーマリオギャラクシー";

Super Mario Galaxy. Likely some stage based on the game of the same name.

Both these stages have entries in the game's .msbt files under UsEn.bin, UsSp.bin and UsFr.bin, but they are blank.

Internal Project Name

It appears that the game was called Mario Sports Wii during development. This is indicated by some unused textures, some internal strings and file names such as MSW.sel.
