No. 846,845 1 Claim. (Cl. 2--94) The present invention relates to a coat garment, particularly a means for supporting the inner pocket of such a coat from exterior bulging.

Numerous conventional hunting coats contain inner pockets which are constructed especially for the carrying of game, shells, rations and the like. Since the coats are not designed for normal wear, such inner pockets for the rnost part are constructed without consideration to supporting the pocket so as to prevent exterior bulging ofthe coat. Some inventors, however, have `devised inner pocket support means which interconnect the tree side of the inner pockets and the coat body. Such support means fail in that they do not prevent exterior bulging and are inadequate as a support since their fastening to the body portion of the coat causes sagging and unnecessary strain in the said body portion.

The instant invention comprises a finished coat, as opposed a a hunting or field jacket, which has an inner poaching pocket uniquely supported against exterior bulging. The inner pocket support consists of a free running member which interconnects the free edge of the inner pocket and the base of the adjacent armpit portion of the coat. Thus, the pocket when illed with game or the like is supported against exterior bulging and the support being from the armpit portion of the coat causes the Weight of the illed pocket to be supported by the shoulders of the wearer of the coat. Consequently, the inner pocket is supported without strain upon or sagging of the body portion of the coat.

Accordingly, it is an object of invention to provide a coat Iwhich has an inner pocket supported against exterior bulging.

Another object of invention is to provide means for supporting a coat inner pocket without causing exterior bulging of the pocket or sagging of the coat body portion.

Yet additional objects of invention will become apparent from the ensuing specication and attached draw ings wherein:

FIG. 1 is a perspective View of the instant coat, opened so as to show the free running support member 28 interconnecting the edge of the inner pocket free side and the armpit base.

FIG. 2 is an enlarged elevation of the coat interior showing the vertically disposed free running member 28 interconnecting the inner pocket free side edge and the armpit base.

FIG. 3 is an enlarged side elevation, partially in section showing the inner pocket filled wit-h game and supported against bulging by the free running member 28.

In FIG. 1 coat :10 is shown as comprising body portion 12 having liner 16, and arm portions 14. Armpi-t portions 18 are dened by the joining of the arm portions 14 to body portion 12. Coat 10 may have conventional exterior pockets 20 and 22, as well as conventional inner pocket 24.

As illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3, poaching or game pocket 26, having outsized free wall 32, may be utilized for the carrying of game 30 or the like. The top edge of outsize side 3Q. `is supported vertically by free running member 28 which is fastened to and interconnects the top edge and the armpit base i18. As shown in FIG. 3, inner pocket 26 is thus supported against exterior bulging. Consequently, the coat garment may be Worn without exterior distortion While the inner pocket 26 is tilled.

As will be apparent lthe instant coat may be used for multifarious purposes, such as the carrying of ashbulbs, binoculars, magicians equipment, maps and various other equipment. Also, the free running member may interconnect the side 32, and armpit 18 at various locations Without departing from the spirit and scope of invention, as defined in the subjoined claim.

I claim:

A coat comprising a body portion, sleeves, armpit portions detined by the joining of said sleeves to said body portion, an inner pocket formed in one of the front panels of said body portion and having outer and inner walls with an opening on the inner side of the body portion below the sleeves, the inner Wall of the said pocket being of a greater width than the outer Wall, and support means for the inner Wall of the pocket connected to the inner Wall intermediate its ends adjacent the opening and to the base of said adjacent amxpit portions.
