This invention relates to an article of clothing and more particularly to a sportmans garment having pockets adapted for the carrying of articles that the wearer may desire such as game, ammunition, hunting licenses, and the like.

Although there are numerous hunting garments in use today, many of them have disadvantages which make them undesirable for general use, such as being designed for limited climatic conditions, having no provision for the rapid transfer of body heat from the captured game, no means to protect the hunter from being soiled by the game, inadequate provision for the carrying of. ammunition and hunting licenses, and no provision for the carrying of game with a maximum of ease and comfort.

It is an object of this invention to provide a hunting garment of light weight and adjustable size, having game carryin pockets which allow substantially complete exposure of their contents. to the atmosphere,- thus facilitating the cooling and reducing the bleeding of the game, and. a garment with a lining to protect the wearers inner garments from being soiled by the game.

Another object of this invention is to provide a hunting garment having game carrying pockets which may be retained compactly rolled when not in use and so positioned as to interfere the least amount with the activities of the wearer either in or not and which provides for the distribution oi: the weight of the game carried. r 1 It is also an object of this inventionto provide a hunting garment having expansible pockets designed for the secure carrying of ammunition and another pocket particularly designed to carry hunting licenses and other personal. items.

Brieflystated, the invention includes a hunting garment basically modeled and reinforced similar to a mans vest having specially designed and positioned pockets for the carrying of game, ammu-= nition, and a hunting license. r e v Further objects and advantages of the inven tion .will become apparent from. the following dcscription taken in conjunction with the accom panyingdrawings, wherein:

Referring to the drawings, the invention. comprises an article of relatively lightweight material consisting of front panels H] for the right and. left sides of the body, the lower portions of which merge into a waist portion and the upper portions into shoulder straps, and upper back panels II pocket on the: line tions of the front and rear panels adjacent the seam l2 are doubled under as shown by the dotted lines for added strength. r

The upper back panels II are joined at a seam 14 as shown, preferably using a French? type seam or one in which no unsewn edge is exposed.

A lower back panel 55 is hemmed on all sides and is stitched over the lower extremity of the upper back panel I I as shown at seam l6 and is joined to the right and left sides of the front panels preferably by fiat fell seams l 6.

Straps 11, having a hem on either side, are stitched to the upper back panel ii and lower back panel I5 as shown to provide additional sup port therebetween.

Straps I8 are attached to the lower back l5 as shown and a buckle I9 is placed onone of the straps to cooperate with the other strap for the desired adjustment of the back.

The construction illustrated provides relatively large openings at the sides of the garment through which the arms ay extend as well as at the front and back of the neck portion of the garment.

On the front of the garment a license pocket 20, consisting of a flat rectangular piece of material with a hem all around it, is stitched to a side of the garment a substantial distance above the lower edge thereof on its sides and bottom, leaving an opening between the pocket and the gar ment at the: top of thepocket thereof, and a tab 2| is stitched. parallel to the top of the pocket as shown. A. Zipper 2 2 has its foundation stitched to the facing parallel sides of the pocket 29 and tab 2| so as to provide a closure means for the pocket 2!. I a

Shell pockets 23- having amultiplicity of vertical and horizontal pleats, as shown, on the sides and bottom thereof, are stitched to the forepart of the front panels H! as shown, and supporting strips 24 being generally of rectangular shape and having hems therein, are placed over either side edge of the shell pockets and stitched to the pocket and garment in order to securely attach the pocket to the garment. Elastic inserts are back to provide more strength in the garment for the buttons and button holes.

Game pockets 25 are provided which consist I of a pocket backing 26 having a plastic or other type of moisture resistant lining 21; a supporting member 28 of double thickness consisting of an extension 28 and a band 28" is attached to the top of the pocket backing 26 at the seam 29 as shown; and a netting 30 which forms the greater portion of the external face of the pocket which is placed in the seam between the pocket and its lining and between the two thicknesses of the band 28" and stitched as shown. Stitches 3| attaching the pocket 25 to the front panel ID are placed in the band 28" as shown and stitches 32 holding pocket 25 to the panel ID are placed in the extension 28' as shown.

Snaps 33 and 34 are attached to the game pocket as shown to support said pocket in its rolled position.

The foregoing specification is merel illustrative of one application of this invention, the scope of which is only to be limited by the following claims.

What is claimed is:

1. A hunters garment of relatively lightweight material comprising a waist portion, a back panel, shoulder straps for supporting said waist portion and extending from said back panel over the shoulders and converging into said waist portion and providing relatively large openings at the sides of the garment through which the arms may extend and at the back and front of the neck portion of the garment, the straps at each side being formed of two parts connected in the upper area of each shoulder portion and having a saddle portion underlying and rein-,

forcing each connection and extending forwardly and rearwardly a substantial distance therefrom, a pocket carried by said garment at each side of the same and attached along one side of its upper portion to the lower part of said waist portion, the other side of said upper portion of the pocket being provided with a supporting extension attached to said waist portion of the garment in spaced relation upwardly of the first attached portion, the outer side portion of said pocket being provided with netting permitting free circulation of air therethrough, said pockets being rollable to a compact position to permit maximum freedom of movement of the wearer when the pocket is not in use, and detachable fasteners for securing said pocket in said rolled position.

A hunters garment of relatively lightweight material comprising a waist portion, a back panel, shoulder straps for supportin said waist portion and extending from said back panel over the shoulders and converging into said waist portion and providing relatively large openings at the sides of the garment through which the arms may extend and at the back and front of the neck portion of the garment, a pocket carried by said garment at each side of the same and attached along one side of its upper portion to the lower part of said waist portion, the other side of said upper portion of the pocket bein provided with a supporting extension attached to said waist portion of the garment in spaced relation upwardly of the first attached portion, the side portion of said pocket being provided with netting permitting free circulation of air therethrough, said pockets being rollable to a compact position to permit maximum freedom of movement of the wearer when the pocket is not in use, and fasteners for securing said pocket in said rolled position.

A hunters garment of relatively lightweight material comprising a waist portion, a back panel, shoulder straps for supporting said waist portion, a pocket carried by said garment at each side of the same and attached along one side of its upper portion to the lower part of said waist portion, the other side of said upper portion of the pocket being provided with a supporting extension attached to said waist portion of the garment in upwardly spaced relation upwardly of the first attached portion, the outer side portion of said pocket being provided with netting permitting free circulation of air therethrough, said pockets being rollable to a compact position to permit maximum freedom of movement when the pocket is not in use, and detachable fasteners for securing said pocket in said rolled position.

4. A hunters garment of relatively lightweight material comprising a waist portion, a

back panel, shoulder straps for supporting said waist portion, a pocket carried by said garment at each side of the same and attached along one side of its upper portion to the lower part of said waist portion, the outer side portion of said pocket being provided with means permitting free circulation of air therethrough, said pockets being rollable to a compact position to permit maximum freedom of movement when the pocket is not in use, and detachable fasteners for securing said pocket in said rolled position.

A garment of relatively light-weight material constructed for use by hunters and comprising a body portion having the general configuration of a vest with relatively large and lowcut arm openings of a size to allow freedom of movement of the arms of the wearer and relatively large and low cut V-shaped neck portion so that the garment may be worn over a heavy coat, pockets carried by said garment, the outer side'portion of said pockets being provided with netting permitting free circulation of air therethrough, said pocket being constructed to be compactly rolled to permit freedom of movement when the pocket is not in use, and fastening means for securing said pocket in rolled position.
