JOHN E. MAMALAKIS, OF OPELO'USAS, LOUTSIANA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-THIRD TO CHARLES P. BALLAS AND (ENE-THIRD TO GEORGE J. CAJ'OLEAS, BOTH OF OPELOUSAS, LOUISIANA.
Application filed June 13,
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, JOHN E. IJLUIALAKIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Opelousas, in the parish of St. Landry and State of Louisiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to key ring holders and has for an object the provision of a holder for this purpose, which may be easily attached in position for use and held in such position against accidental removal.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a key ring holder which is exceed.- ingly simple of construction. being formed from a single sheet of spring metal and shaped to provide a ring attaching bill or hook and a resilient attaching portion, which may be easily and quickly secured to the clothing or belt of the wearer in a manner to prevent accidental removal and thus guard against the loss of keys.
Vith the above and other objects in view, the invention "further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings Figure 1 is an edge view of a key ring holder embodying the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a section on the line 22 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a view of the blank fro a which the holder is formed.
Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicates the body portion of the holder, which, as stated, is formed from a single sheet of spring metal and is bent as shown at 11 to provide a ring receiving hook or bill 12, which terminates in an outwardly inclined extremity 13. The opposite end of the blank from which the holder is formed is slitted to provide a spring tongue 14 whose Specification of Letters Patent.
HOLDER.
1921. Serial No. 477,244.
extremity lies within the bill 12 in a man ner to permit a key ring to be readily inserted within the holder and held against accidental removal.
The material is further bent to provide a resilient strip 15, which is spaced from and substantially parallel to the body portion 10 and this strip is further bent as at 16 to provide av head 17, which lies within a head 18 formed in the body portion 10. Extending from the bead 17 is a spring tongue 19, whose extremity is formed with penetrating prongs 20, which are adapt-ed to engage the clothing of the wearer.
In the use of the invention, the holder may be slipped over a belt so that the latter will occupy the space between the resilient strip 15 and the spring tongue 19, or the belt may be threaded through this space. The holder may b also secured to the waist band of trousers, whereupon the prongs 20 will engage the trousers and accidental removal of the holder will be thus prevented.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within th scope of the appended claim. Having described the invention what is claimed is A key ring holder formed from a single strip of metal bent to provide a substantially straight member, overlapping tongues ex tending from each end of said member and defining a ring receiving loop, a relatively short loop located upon the opposite side of said member, one end of the last mentioned loop extending from and being connected to the substantially straight member, an enlarge-d extremity formed on the free end of the relatively short loop and a. depressed seat formed in said substantially straight member for receiving the enlarged extremity of the last mentioned loop.
In testimony whereof I allix my signature.
J OHN E. MAMALAKIS.
