Description

W. C. WARD.
HOSE SUPPORTER.
APPLICATION FILED OCT- 6, I9l9.
1,358,902. Patented NOY- 16,1920.
1 W MW WILLIS O. WARD, OF ORCHARD LAKE, MICHIGAN.
HOSE-SUPPORTER.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented NOV. 16, 1920.
Application filed October 6, 1919. Serial No. 328,720.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WVILLIs C. WARD, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Orchard Lake in the county of Gakland and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supporters, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The invention relates to hose supporters and consists in the novel construction as hereinafter set forth.
In the drawings:
Figure l is a perspective view of a portion of the supporter;
Fig. 2 is a similar view viewed from a different angle;
Fig. 3 is a vertical central section showing the supporter as in use;
Fig. i is a similar view illustrating the manner of engaging the supporter with the undergarment.
My improved supporter comprises a pair of fasteners 53 attached to opposite ends of the sup ortin B. Each of the fastoners A consists of sheet metal stamping having body portion A and return-bent inwardly directed sharpened prongs C and C at one end thereof. ihe body portion A is further provided with the central hump or outwardly-bent portion I) and by the reduced weight of metal the central portion of this hump portion may be cut away,
as indicated at Adjacent to the base of the pointed prongs C and C the body is slotted to form a cross bar F around which passes the band B. There is also a slot G at the opposite end of the body so that the band will be drawn beneath the humped portion as clearly shown.
In use, to engage the fastener it is re versed in position, as indicated in Fig. 4, and a loop H of the undergarment is gathered and engaged with the pointed prongs. The fastener is thus turned into the position shown in Fig. 3, in which position the points of the prongs are guarded by the humped portion of the body, while the latter also serves to hold the outer garment from engagement with said prongs. This device maybe very easily attached or detached and in normal position is thoroughly protected.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. In a hose or garment supporter, a fastener comprising a body portion to which the band is attached, a return-bent pointed prong and a hump upon the body portion forming a guard for the point of said prong.
2. In a hose or garment supporter, a fastener comprising a sheet metal stamping having a body portion, and a return-bent pointed prong at one end thereof, said body portion being provided with a hump forming a guard for the point of the prong.
3. In a hose or garment supporter, a fastener comprising a sheet metal stamping having a body portion, a pair of return-bent pointed prongs at one end thereof, and a hump in the central part of said body portion forming a guard for the points of said prong.
i. In a hose or garment supporter comprising a sheet metal stamping having fasteners at opposite ends thereof for engagement with the supporting band, a pair of return-bent pointed prongs at one end thereof, and a hump in the central portion of the body forming a guard for said pointed prongs, said hump being centrally cut away.
5. In a hose or garment supporter comprising a sheet metal stamping having securing slots at opposite ends thereof for engagement with the supporting band, and a pair of return-bent pointed prongs at one end thereof for engagement with the garment.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
WILLIS C. WVARD.
