The object of this invention is improvement in the construction and operation of double discharge column pumps for deep Wells. In this type of pump centrifugal pumps are mounted in the lower part of the well for elevating the water and are actuated by e shaft driven by a motor at the upper end of the well on the surface of the ground. v l
One feature of the invention consists in the provision of a plurality of discharge columns or pipes through which the Water reaches the surface and With the turbine shaft located outside of said pipes so as to reduce considerably the frietionul resistanceto the discharge of the Water as compared with the usual method of running the sheft down through the center of a single dis1 charge column or pipe.
Another feature of the invention consists of two discharge columns or pipes with the pump actuating shaft located between them with the hearings of the shaft placed in the pipe flanges or castings connected in some manner to the pipe flanges. Also the bearings are provided with a stuffing box on each end thereof and Ineens for supplying1 lubricant to the whole series of bearings under pressure.
The full'nature of the invention will he understood from the eceoinsnying drawings and the following Zniscription and claims.
In the drawings, ligure tical section through a ma. showingl pump in elevation with intermediate parts broken away. Fig. 2 is a central vertical section through a portion of the pump with the motor at the upper end omitted and with the central portion of parts broken away. Fig. 3 is :i section on the line 3 of Fig. l. Fig. 4, is e central vertical sec tion through one of the shafti'heerings and a socia-ted parts. Fig. 5 is a centi-ei vertical Specification of Letters Patent.

section on the line 5-5 larged scale.
In the dra-Wings,
or the like. there are a number of pump cesings 1I in which centrifugal pumps l2 are located and secured on a shaft 13 for driving'it. rihis shaft is located centrally in the Well and extends above the surface of the ground through a housing 14 at the top to a. motor l5 on the upper end of said housing. ,The
Water elevated by seid pumps is discharged through a pair of pipes 16 located on opposite sides of the shaft 13 and extending up to the housing 14 and discharging the Water through anfoutlet 1'?.l p
'l he discharge pipes 16 are formed in seotion with the ends thereof reversely' threaded so as to screw into horizontal pipe Hanges 18, see Fig, 3, and the bearings 19 for the shaft 13 are located in the pipe Bauges. There is a stufing box 20 at the upper end, und another one at the lower end of each bearing. The upper liange 18 of each ndjacentpair of pipe anges, has an o ilconduit 2i through it, oiling from a short tube 22 projecting horizontally from a vertical lubricating tuhe 23. Lubricating oil is intro- I duced into the tube 23 under pressure and it posses therefrom to all of the bearings of the shaft and without in any Wise interfering with the discharge pipe 16.
The invention claimed is:
l. A deep Well. pump including a pluraiity of dischc rge pipes, ineens below the disl urge pipes for elevating,1 the Water ough said discharge pipes, a shaft eX- hng down into the Well edjacent" said marge pipes for driving the Water ele- .iting means, flange plates on seid disrge pipes at intervals, and hearings for shaft located in seid iianges.
2. deep well pump ity ci" discharge pipes formed in sections, ,dangers adjacent ends oit said pipe sections for securing them together, means below the discharge pipes for elevating the` Water through said pipes, a shaft extending down into the weil for driving said Water elevatn ing means and located betwee. said pipes and extending through said pipe anges, and hearings in said pipe -@enges for seid shaft.
including a plurnlof Fig. 2, on enen i there is shown a well 10. 1u the earth, said Well losing of a metal type., .in the lower-part ofthe Welly said shaft bearings..
Water elevating means, bearings for said shaft in said anges, .stnng boxee seemed to said flanges for preventing lubriealzing 'Huid escaping from the shaft pear-inge, and means for supplying; lubricating uiel te 4. A deep well pump including a plurality of 'discharge pipes, transverse' flangee' for securing-said pipes .in Ineens leeated below said discharge plpee "er elevating ihe Water ibreugh them, a shaft exfending down into the Well between said pipes and. through said pipe flanges for drivin the Water elevating means, bearings for sa shaft in said flanges, stufling boxes securedv te saiol ilanges for preventing lubricating iiuid escaping from the shaft bearings, a. lu-
breating tube extending into the Well, and conduits leading Jlierefrem to vthe various shaft bearings.
:in witness whereof, I have hereunto afixefl my eigiiaiure in the presence of the witnesses herein named.
