Be it known that I, FRaNK A. BUSH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dress- Shields, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to dress shields for women, and particularly to that class of shield which is worn under the arm pit between the arm and the body for the purpose of absorbing the perspiration which exudes therefrom, the principal object of the invention being to provide a means for permanently carrying and containing in a secure yet removable manner, a smallvquantity of sachet-perfumed cotton or similar scented material of `a strength suflicient to counteract tne unpleasant odor of the perspiration, and which will last for a consider'- able time without renewal.

Another object is to provide a simple and inexpensive device, and yet which will be exceedingly effective for the purpose for which it is designed.

These objects I accomplish by means of the particular construction and adaptation of parts as set forth herein, and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:

In the drawings, similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several views. Referring now more particularly to the same, and to the numerals of reference marked thereon, l represents the dress-shield in general, being composed of two halves or flaps 2 and 3, the same being sewed together along the upper edge, which is of the usual crescent shape, as 4. Each half of this shield is preferably made of two thicknesses of cloth 5 and 6, these being sewed together around their edges, as at 7. to go nearest the body, is attached a small pocket 8 having an outside flap 9 thereon, the cloth for this pocket being preferably of the same material as that of the shield itself, and being inserted between and secured to, the two thicknesses 5 and (l of the member 2, as best shown in Fig. 2. In Fig. 3, the construction of the pocket is the same, but is located on the outside of the flap or member 2 which is nearest the body, instead of on the inside thereof, or directlv next to the skin, as in the first described pocket. If desired, the flap 9 may of course be omitted.

Thus it will be seen that I have produced such a device as substantially fulfils the objects of the invention.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

A. dress shield, comprising in combination, two crescent shaped members hinged together at the top, each of said members comprising` two layers of material secured together at the edges, one of said layers of material of one of the crescent shaped members having a slit therein, a pocket formed from the same material as the said crescent shaped members and adapted to lie between the two layers of material forming the crescent shaped member having' the slit therein, said pocket. being so disposed that its opening lies along the slit in said layer of material forming part of one of the crescent shaped members, said pocket being secured to the material forming the crescent shaped member in which it is disposed, and a flap adapted to cover said slit and pocket opening, substantially as described.
