Abstract
Manganese dioxide is prepared by electrolysis of an aqueous solution of manganese chloride, acidified with hydrochloric acid, by anode oxidation using a corrosion resistant electrode whereas the manganese chloride solution, acidified with hydrochloric acid is used as the electrolytic bath. A method is provided for preparing a mono-crystalline manganese-dioxide of high physical and chemical activity not possessed by electrolytically precipitated manganese dioxide; also the process allows for preparing manganese dioxide of high activity as a cathode activation material of a cell, such as a dry manganese cell or an alkaline manganese cell.
