Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:The titled compound of formula I (X is o-hydroxy, m-hydroxy or p-chloro group).
EXAMPLE: 7a-N-(p-Chlorophenyl)-mitomycin C.
PROCESS: A mitomycin A of formula II is reacted with p-chloroaniline or m-aminophenol in a suitable solvent at -30 to 50°C for 30W50hr, and the reaction product is purified from the reaction mixture by the well-known method, e.g. column chromatography with silica gel, to give the compound of formula I. Preferably, the molar ratio between the mitomycin A and the amine is 1:100W3:1, and the concentration of the mitomycin A is 10-6W10-5mol/l.
