Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a polyester hollow container excellent in mechanical strength, thermal contraction resistance and outer aspect by making blow molding of a bottomed auxiliary molding bodis composed of polyethylene terephthalate resin under a special condition and carrying out biaxial orientation. CONSTITUTION:When a biaxially orientated polyester hollow container is to be produced by keeping a bottomed auxiliary molding body composed of polyethylene terephthalate resin at 80-150 deg.C, stretching it axially, blowing and expanding it laterally, blow molding is carried out under the condition where the temperatures (T1) of a blowing mold and the time (T2) of blow molding satisfy 50 deg.C<=T1<=100 deg.C and 10sec.<=T2<=90sec. at th same time. The intrinsic viscosities greater than 0.5 or preferably greater than 0.6 are used for the above-mentioned polyethylene phthalate resin. The intrinsic viscosities [eta] not greater than 0.5 are not preferred because the drop impact strength of the container becomes remarkably small.
