Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title film having improved mechanical strength, low-temperature shrink characteristics, and shrinkage stress, by irradiating a composition consisting of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, a thermoplastic elastomer, and a polyamide, with high energy rays.
CONSTITUTION: 100 parts by wt. of a composition consisting of A) 95W10 wt.% of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having 3W30 wt. % vinyl acetate group and a melt index and 0.2W10 and B) 5W95 wt. % of a thermoplastic elastomer made of an α-olefin copolymer having 60W95 mole % of ethylene and melt index of 0.1W 10 are blended with C) 5W400 parts by wt. of a polyamido to give a molten blend. The blend is extruded from a T-die, quenched by a liquid refrigerant, and set to make a raw film, which is irradiated with high energy rays so that it has boiling xylene insoluble gel content not more than 70 wt. %. The film is then heated up to not more than 100°C and oriented at a normal temperatureW100°C at an area draw ratio of 5W30:1 and at a cross direction draw ratio of 2W7:1 by blown-film extrusion.
