Description
Claims (11)
- カラー・ディスプレイ装置であって:
第一の光の場および第二の光の場をそれらの光の場が異なる時間期間の間に生成されるように交互に生成するバックライトを有しており、前記第一の光の場は、短波長を含む第一の可視スペクトル部分および中間波長を含む第二の可視スペクトル部分の光を含んでおり、前記第一の光の場は、それぞれ前記第一および第二の可視スペクトル部分を含む光を出す第一の光源および第二の光源によって生成される光を含んでおり、前記第二の光の場は、前記第二の可視スペクトル部分の光および長波長を含む第三の可視スペクトル部分のさらなる光を含んでおり、前記第二の光の場は、前記第二の光源および前記第三の可視スペクトル部分の光を出す第三の光源によって生成され;
当該カラー・ディスプレイ装置はさらに:
前記第一の光の場の第一の可視スペクトル部分から第一の原色の光を選択し、前記第二の光の場の第三の可視スペクトル部分から第四の原色の光を選択するための第一の色選択手段と;
前記第一の光の場の前記第二の可視スペクトル部分から前記第一の光源および前記第二の光源の組み合わせによって生成される第二の原色の光を選択し、前記第二の光の場の前記第二の可視スペクトル部分から前記第二の光源および前記第三の光源の組み合わせによって生成される第三の原色の光を選択するための第二の色選択手段とを有する、カラー・ディスプレイ装置。 - 前記第一の可視スペクトル部分が青の光に対応し、前記第二の可視スペクトル部分が緑の光に対応し、前記第三の可視スペクトル部分が赤の光に対応する、請求項1記載のカラー・ディスプレイ装置。
- 前記第一の色選択手段が、前記第二の可視スペクトル部分内の入射光を実質的に逆選択し、前記第一および第三の可視スペクトル部分内の入射光を実質的に通す、請求項1記載のカラー・ディスプレイ装置。
- 前記第二の色選択手段が、前記第二の可視スペクトル部分内の入射光を実質的に通し、前記第一および第三の可視スペクトル部分内の入射光の通過を実質的に妨げる、請求項1記載のカラー・ディスプレイ装置。
- 前記第一の色選択手段が帯域阻止色フィルタを含み、前記第二の色選択手段が帯域通過色フィルタを含む、請求項1、3または4のうちいずれか一項記載の方法。
- 前記第一の光源が青の光を発するLEDを含み、前記第二の光源が緑の光を発するLEDを含み、前記第三の光源が赤の光を発するLEDを含む、請求項1記載のカラー・ディスプレイ装置。
- 前記の青のLEDは約450〜480nmのところにピーク波長をもち、前記の緑のLEDは約520〜570nmのところにピーク波長をもち、前記赤のLEDは約590〜640nmのところにピーク波長をもつ、請求項6記載のカラー・ディスプレイ装置。
- 前記色選択手段が吸収性または反射性の色フィルタを含む、請求項1記載のカラー・ディスプレイ装置。
- 前記色選択手段が、縞状または市松模様に構成される、請求項1または8記載のカラー・ディスプレイ装置。
- 第一および第二のサブピクセルを有する画素を有する液晶表示パネルと;
前記の第一、第二および第三の光源を有するバックライト・ユニットと;
前記の第一および第二の色選択手段を有する色フィルタ・アレイとを有する、請求項1記載のカラー・ディスプレイ装置。 - カラー・ディスプレイ装置を動作させる方法であって:
第一の時間期間の間に、それぞれ短波長および中間波長を含む第一および第二の可視スペクトル部分内の光を含む第一の光の場を生成するステップであって、前記第一の光の場は、それぞれ前記第一および第二の可視スペクトル部分を含む光を出す第一の光源および第二の光源によって生成される、ステップと;
前記第一の光の場をフィルタリングして、前記第一の可視スペクトル部分に第一の原色が生じ、前記第二の可視スペクトル部分に、前記第一の光源および前記第二の光源の組み合わせによって生成される第二の原色が生じるようにするステップと;
前記第一の時間期間とは異なる第二の時間期間の間に、前記第二の可視スペクトル部分および長波長を含む第三の可視スペクトル部分内の光を含む第二の光の場を生成するステップであって、前記第二の光の場は、前記第二の光源および前記第三の可視スペクトル部分の光を出す第三の光源によって生成される、ステップと;
前記第二の光の場をフィルタリングして、前記第二の可視スペクトル部分に、前記第二の光源および前記第三の光源の組み合わせによって生成される第三の原色が生じ、前記第三の可視スペクトル部分に第四の原色が生じるようにするステップとを有する方法。
