993,501. Electrical transformers. BRATISLOVSKE ELEKTROTECHNICKE ZAVODY NARODNI PODNIK. Jan. 22, 1963 [Jan. 22, 1962], No. 2679/63. Heading H1T. A method of manufacturing a transformer core comprises coating strips of magnetically orientated material with a ceramic enamel binding agent which melts at a temperature between 775‹ and 825‹ C., but which will not be destroyed by a regenerative annealing process, drying the binding agent, forming the core from the strips, and annealing the core after it has been cooled in a non-oxidizing atmosphere at a temperature of 825‹-875‹ C. The strips may be previously coated with a ceramic insulation which withstands temperatures of more than 1000‹C. Alternatively, uncoated strips may be used, a powdered substance of 5-10 microns graining, for example carbides of heavy metals, which is not soluble in the molten enamel, being added to the enamel. The core is cut into U-shaped pieces and the contact surfaces ground flat if necessary. The U-shaped pieces may be formed directly from cut strip and the contact surfaces aligned and ground before the regenerative annealing process.
