Abstract

989,447. Resilient mountings. C. A. VOIGT. Nov. 28, 1962 [Dec. 14, 1961], No. 44952/62. Heading F2S. A resilient bearing, Fig. 1, comprises an annular rubber body 2 which is bonded to an internal rigid bush 1 and to rigid outer halfshells 3, 4 provided with mounting flanges 7, 8, the rubber body 2 which yields in shear under an axially-applied body P, having axially-extending recesses 12 in the gaps formed by the open joints between the opposite edges of the two half-shells 3, 4 so that the bearing may be subjected to a predetermined amount of radial pre-stress by forcing the halfshells together. One or both end faces of the body 2 can be provided with a radially-extending lip 10 which, as shown, loosely covers the flanges 7, 8 and which co-operates with a buffer plate 9 secured to the corresponding end of the bush 1. The shells 3, 4 may be polygonal in horizontal cross-section. In a modification, Fig. 3, the inner bush comprises two truncated cone portions which co-operate with correspondinglyshaped rubber body and half-shell members. The twin-cone surfaces may be replaced by circular arc contours.
