968,539. Mixing appliances. BUSS A.G. Sept. 22, 1960 [Sept. 25, 1959], No. 32517/60. Heading B1C. In apparatus for mixing granular and pulverulent materials the inclined container 1 has, mounted eccentrically to its axis, a rotating longitudinal shaft 4 having an interrupted screw 5 and vanes 6 which convey the material upwards and project part of it into the space above the screw so that it falls back in a curved trajectory towards the lower end of the screw. There may be fixed pins in the container to increase the mixing action and the shaft 4 may be given an additional motion of axial reciprocation. There are inlet and discharge orifices 2, 3 respectively. Mixing may be carried out under pressure or partial vacuum.
