[Also in Division B4] An abrasive or polishing tool comprises a convex base-plate 11, perforated at 12 and forming a backing surface for a perforated sheet material 14 which extends beyond the periphery of the plate 11 and is held by a gripping member 18, and clamping means 21 for holding the gripping member against the plate. The holes 12 provide for the passage of particles from the surface treated by the tool; they collect in the space between the gripping plate 18 and the base plate. A handle 23 may have a curved neck for easy access of the tool to the internal surfaces of motor tyres. Peripheral lugs are provided on the metal abrasive disc for folding on to the back face of the base plate, and the gripper 18 may be in the form of a spider.
