Abstract
936,349. Jewellery. ZEM (MANUFACTURING JEWELLERS) Ltd. Sept. 29, 1961 [Oct. 24, 1960], No. 36456/60. Class 43. [Also in Group XI] A charm or like ornament comprises a hollow body 1 arranged to accommodate an electric battery 13 and including means for receiving an electric bulb 3, at least partly within the body and including switching means mounted on or in the body and capable of being propelled by means of pressure exerted from outside the body to move from a circuit breaking position to a circuit-making position in which it is able to complete a circuit between the bulb and battery and resilient biasing means adapted to urge the switching means from its circuit making position to its circuit breaking position. One terminal of the bulb 3 makes contact with the metal body of the ornament, a miniature lighthouse. The other terminal is connected to a wire 10 which passes through an insulating sleeve 9 to a metal disc contact 11 in the hollow base spaced from the battery 13 by an annular resilient cushion member 15 which urges the battery casing which is one pole into contact with a flexible metal plate 16 retained by a spring ring 17 engaging the ornament. By pressing against the plate the battery is moved to engage the upper surface which is the other pole of the battery with the disc contact 11 which completes the lamp circuit. The aperture for the bulb 3 is spaced from a cap 5 by pillars 4. Alternatively the ornament may have the form of a television set with translucent windows and transparent pictures. The rear has a pushbutton which presses on a battery to light a bulb within the set. The base opens to allow the battery to be inserted. The operating member may comprise a pivoted rod extending outside the ornament and resiliently urged to disengaging position.
